Objective

Student knows the phases of the design thinking process. Student can contribute design thinking process as well as develop and lead a creative design thinking process. Student can apply design methods in the design phases. Student can use and disseminate information gathered and created during the design process. Student understands the factors contributing to creativity and can foster and manage creative mindset in an organization.

Teaching methods

Design thinking refers to the cognitive, strategic and practical processes by which design concepts. Design thinking and creativity mean the human-centred innovative open problem solving process decision makers use to solve real world problems. Design thinking can improve not only product innovation but also decision making in other fields, such as management, public health, and organizations in general. Design thinking is fundamentally multi-epistemic, using multiple ways of knowing (thinking, feeling, sensing and intuiting) and producing creative problem solving.

The objective is that students are able to create solutions to different service design problems in interdisciplinary teams. Different competencies are developed, such as prototyping skills, emotional skills, capability of adopting perspectives, empathy and a certain mindset. The development of these creative competencies culminates in the acquisition of creative confidence, which assures the students of their own ability of acting and thinking creative.
