Objective

The course will provide the students with the necessary knowledge to carry out relational database designs, based on normalization theory and process needs. Students will be trained in the advanced use of SQL and in the optimization of access to the database. Moreover, they will learn how to create data analysis pipelines extracting data from the database. Advance studies students will be also introduced to the different types of existing NoSQL databases, their structure and representation.

Content

- Review of database basics: The Entity-Relation model and the SQL langauge - Database normalization - Transactions - Triggers - Security aspects - Data analysis - NoSQL databases (Only for advanced studies)

Qualifications

- Students should be able to create and interpret entity-relation diagrams and be familiar with SQL.
