Basic Course in RLaajuus (2 cr)

Objective

Learning outcomes: The student has sufficiently good skills in the use of R to participate intermediate courses in statistics. After completing the course, student is able to: • explain the essential principles of R programming, • analyze standard research data using R-language, including processing the data, describing the data using graphs and descriptive statistics, and • acquire information using the Internet and documentation pages to support independent study of R-language.

Content

Introduction to use of R, variables and vectors, data types: vectors, data.frame, matrix, reading data in, manipulating data, descriptive statistics, describing data with simple graphics, use of probability distributions, doing simple analyses, functions, conditional statements and loops. The RStudio software is used to study this course.
