Objective

Learning outcomes: Upon the completion of the course, the student - has gained extensive experience of different styles of composing in the Orthodox Church - is familiar with the principles of composing for different choral settings - is able to create stylistically independent compositions and arrangements of chants

Content

During the course, the student gains expertise in the composing and arranging styles and techniques of the Orthodox Church and practices adapting them to his/her own compositions and arrangements.

Qualifications

Participation in the course presupposes a completed Bachelor’s degree or a completed set of supplementary studies (those admitted directly to studies on the Master’s level). In addition, Music Analysis, Advanced Course in Church Music: Orthodox Styles of Composition, Liturgical Singing 3 and Counterpoint (minimum grade 4/5) must be completed before this course.
