Objective
Upon the completion of the course, the student - has gained experience in the vocal technique - is able to use his/her vocal technique in a stylistically wide range of repertoire - has developed their own expertise, self-management, and communication skills Generic Competences: Identification and development of expertise
Content
During the course, the student becomes acquainted with the basic repertoire and different styles of classical singing. The student prepares at least 60 pieces for presenting (including the exam part of Singing D): - Vaccai’s vocalises (excluding the numbers included in the repertoire of Singing 2/2) - 5 pieces or arias from the Renaissance and the Baroque period in the original language - 18 pieces from the essential repertoire of the 18th and 19th centuries (at least two pieces by Beethoven, Brahms, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, and Wolf) - 5 pieces of late Romantic, Impressionist or more contemporary period - 5 oratorio, cantata, opera or operetta arias, musical or music theatrical pieces in the original language or in Finnish (the recitative not obligatory) - 5 Nordic (not Finnish) pieces - 22 Finnish pieces in different styles, at least 5 pieces from the 18th–19th centuries and at least 5 representing new tonality - the repertoire must include pieces both in Finnish and in Swedish
Qualifications
Singing 2/2 The student has to complete at least 40 cp towards their Bachelor’s degree on their 2nd study year in order to participate in the teaching of Singing D, Preparatory Part.

Execution methods
The course is completed with an agreement about the teaching with the singing teacher.
Accomplishment methods
Modes of study: Individual training with the teacher 27 h for one year, training accompanied with a piano 4 h, independent work 130 h, exam 1 h Evaluation criteria: The preparatory exam consists of 2 vocalises by Vaccai (XV obligatory) and a piece of free choice from the repertoire. The exam is evaluated by a board consisting of the teacher and minimum one colleague (pass-fail)
