Objective
Learning outcomes: Upon the completion of the course, the student - has gained extensive experience in chanting and reciting the standard liturgical repertoire used the Finnish Orthodox Church - is familiar with the chant and text books for the Great Feasts and Easter - is able to sing all four parts (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) of the notated chant repertoire of the course - is able to apply the four parts (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) of the canon chants of the Octoechos to liturgical text - has gained experience in conducting liturgical music - has gained experience in identification and development of expertise as well as interaction and communication. Content
During the course, the student becomes experienced in applying into practice the standard musical repertoire of the Finnish Orthodox Church (the canon chants of the Octoechos). The student explores the musical content of the Great Feasts and Easter and practices further the conducting of liturgical music.

Accomplishment methods
Modes of study: Lectures and exercises 53 h, independent work and assignments 28 h or Independent work (79 h) and two separate examinations (2 h) Evaluation criteria: Active participation (80%) and assignments. Oral exams (included in the exercises), 0–5: 1) The notated chants of the Great Feasts (canons and other chants from Veisatkaa Herralle collections, all voice parts) and the canon chants of the Octoechos (soprano parts), applied to chant texts 2) The notated chants of Easter (all voice parts) and the canon chants of the Octoechos (alto, tenor, bass parts), applied to chant texts
