Objective
Upon the completion of the course, the student - is able to describe the principles of composing in the Orthodox Church - is able to periodise the styles of composing in their historical contexts - has gained experience in using different media (music, scores, literature) for a written report
Content
During the course, the student becomes familiar with the styles of composing Orthodox church music in the Slavic (including Finnish) tradition from the 16th century until today, and with the general principles of composing in the Orthodox Church. The lectures feature plentiful music examples.
