Objective

Learning outcomes: A successful student will be able to - apply literary theory to texts - recognize the potentiality of multiple readings - master the conventions of oral and written academic communication in her field of study The course develops the following work life skills: - meaning making, creativity, coping with workload, social intelligence, management of large entities, information sources and source critique, information search, language skills, presentation skills, time management and prioritization, basic office software, self-management, special knowledge of a country/cultural area

Content

This course develops students’ research skills and academic communication skills. It develops their ability to apply literary theory to texts, expands their awareness of the multiplicity of possible interpretations, and develops their written and oral communication skills. Each student will present two written seminar papers (one each term) and participate actively and regularly in the seminar. The first paper will deal with the theoretical background of the study (4,000 words: 15 pages) and the second one with the text(s) to be studied in the Master’s thesis (5,000-6,000 words: 15-20 pages). The seminar papers form the basis for the thesis and function as parts of its eventual whole. The course is taught in English.
