Objective

After completing the course, the student will be able to - Uses the equipment of Savonia's plastic printing laboratory - Knows the most common 3D printing methods - Knows the most common materials used in 3D printing and their properties - Understand the limitations and opportunities in product design for different 3D printing methods

Content

- Extruder / FDM-printing - VAT Photopolymerization - Powder bed printing - Multimaterial printing - 3D-scanning - Principles of designing a 3D-printable product

Qualifications

It is recommended to take the basics of 3D printing -course first. In addition, you can get more out of the course if the student has access to and the ability to use some kind of 3D modeling software.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student has used all available 3D-printers on the course. Understands in principle differences in methods and equipment.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student has succeeded in making functional 3D prints using all methods during the Study Course. Knows the differences in methods, suitability for different applications, suitability and properties of materials and independently plan 3D-printable products.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student masters all equipment used on the course. Understands the differences in methods, suitability for different applications, has deep understanding of the 3D-printers, suitability and properties of materials and independently plan 3D-printable products.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Passed: The student has used all the methods in the course and made prints with them. Knows the basic principles of the methods used.

All required material will be provided on the course.

Execution methods

This course is taught face-to-face on the campus.
