Objective

Purpose In this course you will learn the basics of internal medicine, psychiatry, anesthesiology, surgery and infectious diseases. Competences Evidence-based and decision-making competence Clinical competence Client competence in Health and Social care Outcomes You will know the etiology of the diseases and the most important medical specialties. You understand medical treatment processes as part of health services. You will be able to use related sciences that supports knowledge in planning, implementing and evaluating nursing.

Neurological diseases heart diseases Diabetes Asthma Cancer Treatments Substance Abuse depressive disorders psychoses anxiety disorders Basics of Orthopedics and Traumatology Basics of acute and emergency care Thorax and vascular surgery gastroenterology Preparing for anesthesia Forms of basic anesthesia and related complications Basic monitoring and medication in anesthetized patient Basics of microbiology

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient 1 You can name the etiological factors of the diseases. You are able to list the most common Internal Diseases, Psychiatric Diseases, Surgical Diseases, and their monitoring and treatment, and the most common anesthesia methods. Satisfactory 2 You can name the etiological factors of the diseases. You are able to describe the most common Internal Diseases, Psychiatric Diseases, Surgical Diseases and their monitoring and treatment, and the most common methods of anesthesia.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good 3 You understand the importance of etiological factors in the development of diseases. Can describe and justify the methods used to monitor and treat the most common internal, psychiatric and surgical conditions You are able to describe and justify the use of the most common anesthetic methods. Very Good 4 You understand the importance of etiological factors in the development of diseases. You apply medical knowledge when planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
