Objective
The course covers the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in small networks and introduces wireless local area networks (WLAN) and security concepts. Students learn how to configure and troubleshoot routers and switches for advanced functionality using security best practices and resolve common issues with protocols in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Recommended preparation: CCNA: Introduction to Networks or having equivalent knowledge.
Content
• Configure VLANs and Inter-VLAN routing applying security best practices.
• Troubleshoot inter-VLAN routing on Layer 3 devices.
• Configure redundancy on a switched network using STP and EtherChannel.
• Troubleshoot EtherChannel on switched networks.
• Explain how to support available and reliable networks using dynamic addressing and first-hop redundancy protocols.
• Configure dynamic address allocation in IPv6 networks.
• Configure WLANs using a WLC and L2 security best practices.
• Configure switch security to mitigate LAN attacks.
• Configure IPv4 and IPv6 static routing on routers.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student knows how to describe the architectures and aspects related to the design, protection, operation and troubleshooting of corporate networks. The student knows the factors necessary for the implementation of a company's data network and knows the structure and operation of routers and switches.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student knows how to implement the information network design of a small or medium-sized organization / company. The student is able to build a data network for business use and define the basic settings of routers and switches.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student can independently design and implement a data network of a medium-sized organization / company, taking into account the requirements of data security and high availability regarding the settings of WLAN and router and switch networks.
