Ethics in nursing

- Significance of cultural background in customer contact and interaction
- Essential theories of ethics, virtue ethics, consequentialism and deontological ethics

Theme 1. Professional Interaction during the individual´s life course
- Professional Interaction and therapeutic communication
- Finnish language and communication, communication skills in a professional context
- Client as an expert of his/her own life, resource-orientedness
- Psychological growth and development
Theme 2. Ethics in Nursing
- Client skills
- The role of cultural background in professional encounters and communication
- Fundamental theories in ethics. Virtue, consequentialism and deontological ethics.
Theme 3. Ruotsi Swedish

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Satisfactory
You define the starting points for professional, care-related and resource-oriented interaction.
You act responsibly in compliance with professional ethics.
You can handle the most common oral and written communication situations in the field in Swedish and can acquire information from easily readable sources.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good
You explain the significance of professional, care-related and resource-oriented interaction, with consideration to individuals of different ages and types.
You act responsibly in compliance with professional ethics and can justify your actions.
You use Swedish in oral and written communication situations in the field and can acquire information from essential sources.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Very good

You assess the meanings and significance of professional, care-related and resource-oriented interaction with people and customers of different ages and types as well as their families.
You act responsibly in compliance with professional ethics, providing justifications and analysing various options.

You command a diverse vocabulary in oral and written communication situations in the field and can acquire and structure information independently from a variety of pertinent sources.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Fail: The student has not achieved satisfactory competence.
