Objective

Finnish language 3 ECTS
Competence Goals:
The course will introduce the students to the Finnish language and helps them to manage in everyday situations. The student knows how and where to get information and how to develop his/her own Finnish language skills. S/he shows a positive attitude towards learning the Finnish language both guided and independently. The student completes Finnish language studies and is recommended to study Finnish for Foreigners courses.

Content

After the course student is able to tell her-/himself and her/his family in Finnish. He/she can read and understand simple Finnish texts. Student is able to recognize some basic vocabulary of nursing and write simple phrases in Finnish. He/she is able to recognize some characteristics of Finnish culture and way of life. We'll have lots of speaking, listening and writing exercises.
Main contents:
- Alphabet, numbers, days, months, time, greetings, food, drink, family and living,
- Pronounciation, questions
- Introducing and telling about yourself, asking the way, getting to know each other
- Some basic words of nursing
Grammatical contents:
- Principles of the verb conjugation and present tense, negative form
- Personal and possessive pronouns
- The degree of variation, vocal harmony, partitive case, local cases, adjectives
