Elderly Nursing and Geriatrics 5ECTS
Competence Goals:
The student is able to support and assess the wellbeing and functional capacity of an elderly person. S/he has the competence to assess care needs, to plan and to implement as well as to evaluate nursing of a geriatric patient. S/he respects and values the uniqueness of an elderly person, his/her history and background. S/he understands how the changes brought on by the ageing process can affect the health and functional capacity of an individual. The student can apply evidence-based information in geriatric nursing work. S/he can use the methods of health promotion in practice in a multi-professional care and service network, in different care environments. The student has the tools to support and foster active participation of families and loved-ones in the care of an elderly person.
