English and Communication 3 ECTS

Competence Goals:
The aim of the course is for the student to achieve a high level of academic and professional English by focusing on reading, writing and speaking skills. In addition, the student should gain the confidence and ability to communicate using English in work. The student is capable of interactive, client-centred oral and written communication.The degree certificate has the following statement concerning the English language: The student’s oral and written skills in the degree programme’s mandatory foreign language(s) are at a level necessary for practicing an occupation and for professional development (352/2003, 8 §). The degree certificate does not show the English grade.

Sisältö

Contact lessons for interactive communicative professional situations, such as nurse-client/patient situations.
Written and oral assignments for professional development, such as a synopsis based on a professional nursing text/article, and oral presentation.
