- is familiar with the purposes, objectives and forms of operation of Finnish early childhood education
- knows and recognises the starting points of a child’s growth and development and the support a child needs for development and learning
- can describe the service systems for supporting development and learning
- can support children and families while taking the principles of cooperation with the parents into account

Good (3–4):
The student demonstrates a good grasp of the contents and materials. The learning objectives are fulfilled to a good degree.

Excellent (5):
The student demonstrates an excellent grasp of the contents and materials. The learning objectives are fulfilled to an excellent degree.
