Objective

Aim of the final examination of BSc level studies is to update and repeat the knowledge of nutrition science studies.

Content

Fundamentals of human nutrition. Nutrients and their role in human nutrition. Nutrition requirements. Nutrition recommendations. Food composition tables and files. Digestion, metabolism and function of the energy providing nutrients (dietary proteins, carbohydrates, fats, alcohol), vitamins, minerals and other diet derived compounds in humans. The regulation of the nutrient digestion, metabolism and food intake. Effect of food and nutrition in the function of various organs. Regulation of eating. The role of food and food quality in the function of gut microbiota, and the role of gut microbiota in nutrient intake.

Basic Studies of Nutrition.

Learning materials of following study modules: Basic nutritional sciences and Nutrition physiology, and Ravitsemustiede, Duodecim (2021) pages 16-260 and 373-425.
