Objective
Learning outcomes: Upon successful completion of this lecture course, the student should: • recognise how language and culture are intertwined, as well as understand the significance of cultural differences in communication; • be able to consider culture as a multi-layered phenomenon; • understand the nature of translation as intercultural communication and the significance of target audience in translation; • be able to comment on concrete examples of the phenomena covered during the course. The course develops the following work life skills: Language and communication skills, intercultural competence, knowledge of socio-cultural contexts related to specific countries Generic competences: internationality, critical thinking, identification and development of expertise, interaction and communication
