Objective
The course deepens the student’s understanding of the scientific-historical development trends of historical knowledge and the typical and topical research debates in the field of science. After completing the course, the student understands both international discourse and the special emphases of historical research conducted in Finland. They understand the connections between historical and political thinking and can identify the interfaces between how questions are framed in historical research and whichever social problems and goals are currently seen as topical.
Content
The course introduces students to the key traditions and current research trends of historical research from the perspective of historical knowledge and the history of thought.
