Objective

After successful completion of the course the student will be able to
1) ask and understand questions, and to answer them in a culturally acceptable way
2) communicate in simple social situations, and to solve possible problems arising from insufficient vocabulary
3) present information on his/her own studies
4) present personal opinions.

Execution methods

Conversational exercises and small group discussions, 24 h.

Accomplishment methods

Regular, active participation.

Content

The course aims to prepare participants for an extended stay in a German-speaking country. The focus is on verbal exercises, mostly in pairs and small groups. Participants also acquaint themselves with communicational strategies and German communicational culture. Participants will follow TV news from the country they are intending to go to.

Qualifications

Basic grammar and vocabulary, at least one year of intensive language learning (e.g. XSAK0001 German 1 - XSAK0004 German 4).

If you intend to take the B1 ECTS level German courses like XSAK0221 Saksan kieliopin kertaus, TSAK0201 Saksan tekstin ymmärtäminen or TSAK0206 Projekti- ja verkostointitaito, saksa, it is advisable to complete those courses first.
