Opintojakso pohjautuu uusimpaan lastensuojelun sijaishuoltoa koskevaan tutkimustietoon, jota esitellään kurssin sisältöihin liittyen.
Lopputehtävässä pakollisena lähteenä valinnaisten lähteiden lisäksi: Enroos, R. & Heino, T. & Pösö, T. (toim.) 2016. Huostaanotto. Lastensuojelun vaativin tehtävä. Tampere: Vastapaino.
