Objective
After completing the course, the student is familiar with the structure of layered OSI and TCP / IP models, the functionalities and general cabling standard of LAN media, the operation of the most common LAN devices and device applications, as well as key TCP / IP protocols and is able to perform IP subnetting. After completing the course, the student is able to build and test the operation of a small local area network and connect the data to the local area network. The student is able to calculate IP addresses and subnets, as well as define an IP address book for workstations and test the functionality of an IP connection.

Opintojakson suoritettuaan opiskelija tuntee kerroksellisten OSI ja TCP/IP mallien rakenteen, lähiverkon medioiden toiminnalliset ominaisuudet ja yleiskaapelointistandardin, yleisimpien lähiverkkolaitteiden toiminnan ja laitteiden sovelluskohteet sekä keskeiset TCP/IP-protokollat ja pystyy suorittamaan IP-aliverkotuksen. Opintojakson suoritettuaan opiskelija osaa rakentaa ja testata pienen lähiverkon toiminnan ja liittää tietokeen lähiverkkoon. Opiskelija osaa IP-osoitteiden ja aliverkkojen laskennan sekä määritellä IP-osoitteiston työasemiin ja testata IP-yhteyden toimivuuden.
