Tavoitteet

The objective of the course is to enhance the students’ ability to work in transnational and interdisciplinary teams.
The course content is relevant to students thinking about starting a business or who are already in business – large or small, those who are interested in commercializing their innovations. The second objective of the course is to provide students with an understanding of the nature of lean entrepreneurship and to introduce the role of the entrepreneur, innovation and technology.
Learning outcomes:
Students are able to develop a plan for implementing innovative business models in an international environment being responsible for the social, ethical and culture issues.
Students are able to work in a transnational and interdisciplinary team.
Students are able to discuss the attitudes, values and characteristics of an entrepreneurial mindset.
Students are able to discuss what is meant by innovation management and the role of the entrepreneur in the enterprise creation process.
Students are able to describe the ways in which entrepreneurs perceive add value, organize resources and manage risk.

Sisältö

The lean startup methodology seeks to eliminate wasteful practices and increase value-producing practices during the product or service development phase so that startups can have a better chance of success without requiring large amounts of outside funding, elaborate business plans, and the perfect product or service. Customer feedback during the product or service development is integral to the lean startup process, and ensures that the produces does not invest time designing features or services that consumers do not want.
Materials and instructions will be on Openmoodle.
29 November at 18.00 - 19.30an online introduction (AC) for Lapland UAS and Kajaani UAS students.
7 - 8 December a work-shop in Tornio
December - May online teamwork.
6 to 10 May 2019 conference and pitch in Belfast.

Aika ja paikka

The first part, a work-shop will take place on 12 -13 December 2019 in Kempten Germany. Finnish and and North Irish students will travel to kempten, Bavaria for team building and to innovate the business idea.
In the second part the students will work online in mixed teams.
The third part, a conference, will take place in Belfast on 21 to 25 April 2020. The teams will pitch their business models to a jury, which will assess them.
Lapland UAS will sponsor part of the travel expenses.
