Tavoitteet

Student will learn to interview and counsel clients in English. They also learn the importance of interaction, cooperation and ethical behavior.

Toteutustavat

A seminar with lectures, teamwork and a learning diary written according to the instructions given at the beginning of the course (40 hours). Each student should be able to practice at least once in the role of a client and twice as a lawyer.

One of the rounds will be held together with the course Legal English and gives 1 credit in Legal English.

Students practice client consulting in simulated situations with clients.

You now have the option to take the courses legal English (OENG0710V24-3003)
and client consultation (OTMEVAL005V24-3002) as a partially integrated entity.
The courses share an assignment for which those students, who take both courses simultaneously, get credits under both implementations.

The student taking both Legal English and Client Consultation earn 1 credit from client consultation with one integrated practice round as a lawyer and one as a client.
The student only taking the Client Consultation Course need to take in addition to the integrated round in one group, all the second round classes (1 as a lawyer and one as a client and the rest as an observer, write a learning diary and a written essay on 1-2 articles.

Opetusmenetelmät

The course is about practicing, how to interview clients, develop options and choose together how to proceed with the clients problem. Students will be taking the roles of interviewing lawyers and a client.
