Objective

The module allows students to familiarize themselves with a variety of topical issues in Public International Law.

Execution methods

The module is available both in fall and spring term but the ways of organizing it well as the ECTS available may vary.

Accomplishment methods

The module may include lectures, seminars and other events providing opportunities for students to familiarize themselves with various aspects of the evolving Public International Law. It may also include written assignments and/or examinations.

Content

The contents of the module are based on the recent developments within Public International Law, research projects related to them, and the personal interests of students participating in the module.

Location and time

LECTURES (in person) every day at 9-11:
• Mon 13.1.
• Tue 14.1.
• Wed 15.1.
• Thu 16.1.
• Fri 17.1.

+ LECTURE TEST 17.1. at 13-14. No registration needed for this first lecture test. NB. It is possible to retake the lecture test in February, in case you did not pass the 17.1. lecture test.

Teaching methods

Law of Air Warfare and Contemporary Challenges" 1-2 ECTS
Lecturer: Mateusz Piątkowski

The course consists of lectures+lecture test (1 ECTS), in addition to which you can make a written assignment for 1 ECTS. The written assignment is available only for students who have passed the lectures. The lecturer will provide instructions for the written assignment.

Contents of the lectures:
• 1) Introduction to the law of air warfare
• 2) Air warfare and the IHL
• 3) Relationship between the law of air warfare and international aviation law
• 4) Autonomous aerial activities (4)
• 5) Commentary regarding the conduct of air operations in Ukraine and Gaza

Evaluation scale:
For 1 ECTS lectures: FAIL/PASS.
For 2 ECTS lectures+written assignment: FAIL/1-5 (grade being based on the written assignment)
