After the course the student

- the value-basis and aims of the policy
- the historical and recent developments of the policy instrument
- its place in the structure of the Treaties

- the main legislation and executive rules and decisions
- basic jurisprudence related to the theme.
- the basic judicial cases

The course prepares student for European union institutional and diplomatic work from the legal point of view..

Teaching is research based, so the student will acquire also insight to the research based legal analysis.

Coursework:
- pre-reading
- participation to the lectures (10 hours)
- a case study report (3 pages)

Exam
- book exam (material delivered in Moodle), dates agreed during the lectures.

4. Treaty and the main instruments

Qualifications

Basic EU course (EU I in Lapland uni) or equivalent.
