- knows the significance of preventive substance abuse work
- can identify cultural, social and health factors connected to substance abuse
- can describe individual and communal factors connected to addictive behaviour
- knows various substance abuse treatment methods and can refer clients within the service system
- can counsel a substance abuse rehabilitation client

Content
Substance abuse: social, cultural, community, and individual factors contribute to the development of addiction. Preventive work, various treatment options, substance abuse rehabilitation and substance abuse legislation.

The student can analyse and assess individual and societal factors affecting substance abuse and knows how various forms of treatment can be used in substance abuse rehabilitation.
