Objective
After completing the study unit, the student will be able to - Identify use cases of biosignals in medical technology, wellness technology and human-computer interaction. - Explain the essential physiological processes that form biosignals (e.g. electrocardiogram (ECG), electromyography (EMG)) and know the basics of signal collection from the human body. - Have knowledge of basic methodology for signal quality improvement and feature extraction. - Implement applications using biosignals
Content
Course content: physiological origins and characteristics of bio-signals for data processing. Electrical (ECG, EMG, EEG) and non-electrical biosignals (motion capture and functional brain imaging). Hands on acquisition of biosignals. Signal quality improvement and analysis methods. Biosignal device and software interfaces and tools. System architectures for biosignal processing.
Qualifications
No formal prerequisites are needed, but good programming skills as well as familiarity with basic mathematics will be helpful.
