Objective

Upon successful completion of this course students are able to know through working as a part of a team how the organisation is operating in European and in international levels; apply their skills and knowledge in practice; have knowledge and understanding of European and international business culture and values, team work practices as well as project management and how a research project starts and how it is managed, funded and reported. The course develops the following generic skills: internationality, sustainability and responsibility, critical thinking, identification and development of expertise, interaction and communication.

Content

The course consists of a work assignment in a national or international forestry-related institution. The course is project oriented, and the topic of the work assignment is agreed upon in cooperation with the hosting organisation, the supervisor and the student. The course is supervised by a lecturer from one of the MSc European Forestry partner universities. An essential part of the course is a final report that the students write on the basis of the training period.

Available only for the students of the MSc European Forestry degree programme.

Further information

The course in organised jointly by MSc European Forestry Consortium universities and associated partner organisations. Every year in June-July. Language of instruction is English.

Accomplishment methods

Participating in a project (a min. of 2 months), final report on the findings during the course and a seminar presentation based on the report. Grading (0-5) is based on the written report (40%), oral presentation (30%) and general performance during the internship based on supervisor's evaluation (30%).
