Objective
After completing the course, the student • understands the role of forest soils in providing different ecosystem services • has deep understanding on the central processes and organism groups in forest soils • is able to apply her/his learning to manage forest soil for biodiversity and productivity
Content
Forest soils as carbon sink and storage, source of nutrients of tree stand and underground vegetation, and in maintaining biodiversity. Impact of environmental factors to soil properties and processes. Climate change and soil. Impact of disturbances. Fertilization, soil preparation, ditching.
Qualifications
Previous studies: LM00CM50 Forest soils (4 cp) or equivalent.
