Objective

The student will be able to: - explain the classification of products available in pharmacies and the regulation of their sales - interpret up-to-date information from laws, regulations, and guidelines, and understand their significance when performing drug dispensing - describe the special characteristics of pharmacy operations from a perspective of legislation and practice - apply regulations when calculating drug reimbursements and providing patient counselling about the medicines’ prices - apply up-to-date laws, regulations, and guidelines when performing drug dispensing and patient counselling in a pharmacy setting - apply professional legislation and ethics in a pharmacy setting

Content

Products available in pharmacies and their classification; prescribing and dispensing of drugs; pricing of medical preparation; reimbursement of drug expenses; pharmacy operations and legislation; the professional role of the pharmacist; confidentiality and professional ethics in pharmacy; labour legislation and collective agreement in pharmacy practice; the principles of pharmaceutical marketing; giving and receiving feedback; self-assessment.

Accepted Drugs in Health Care -course

Materials

Laws, regulations, and guidelines concerning pharmacy practice, the instructions of health insurance by Kela when performing drug dispensing, and materials handed out during a contact teaching and during tutorials.

Offering data: This course is intended for degree pharmacy students. Priority given to degree students for FA2 and PR2 students. The rest will be admitted based on the consideration.
