Objective
After completing the course, the student will be able to • measure essential air pollutants from combustion processes. • analyze toxicological properties of particle samples. • interpret and report the findings following scientific standards. • understand principles related to planning and implementation a research project. • identify challenges of interdisciplinary research.
Content
Aerosol sampling from combustions processes. Collection and processing of particulate matter samples for toxicological experiments. Cell culture and exposure techniques. Sample analysis. Scientific analysis and reporting of results, peer-review process.

Accomplishment methods
Modes of study: Lectures 6 h, practical exercises 18 h, seminar 4 h, independent studies 107 h. All teaching events of this course are mandatory. Between meetings that are scheduled in Lukari, students prepare for the the practical work independently. Evaluation criteria: Final report, which is done as a group work, will be graded FAIL-5
