Objective

After passing this course student understands main basic knowledge about climate change as a scientific phenomenon, as well as about mitigating it and adapting to it. The student understands the basics of how climate functions and is able to define causes and consequences of climate change. The student can explain what measures can be taken to mitigate climate change and how it is possible to adapt to it. The student is able to look at climate change from various perspectives and make connections between the environment, the economy and different parts of society. The course develops the following generic skills: digitalisation, ethics, internationality, sustainability and responsibility, critical thinking, identification and development of one's own expertise, and interaction and communication.

Content

The course is based on the content of the Climate.now online course: Climate change - what is it about, the climate system, the future of the climate, the impacts, the mitigation, the adaptation and the big issues.

NOTE: If you have already completed the 3352711 Climate Change -eLearning course (2 cr), you can only get 3 cr from this course. In this case, you only participate in project work and seminars and write learning diary in applicable parts. You will receive course credits from the LS00CL00 Climate Change (3 cr) course. More information at the beginning of the course. Time: The course will be held in the autumn semesters. Execution methods

Lectures (8 h), project works (20 h) and seminars (6 h).

Accomplishment methods

Continuous evidence-based assessment: learning diary (60 %), a project work and seminar (40 %) and multiple-choice questions (pass). Modes of study will be agreed in detail at the beginning of the course. Evaluation criteria: 0-5
