Objective
Learning outcomes: The aim is to introduce the student to tropical limnology and to the special features of African savanna and rain forest ecosystems.
Content
Climatic, edaphic and biological basis of the primary and secondary production of African savannas, with examples mainly from Serengeti and Kruger national parks. Large herbivore (e.g. elephant and rhino) and predator conservation. Basics of tropical limnology and fish production with examples mainly from African Great Lakes. Conservation issues of African Great Lakes.
