Objective

This study unit is taught in Finnish. The translation has not been updated after July 31, 2024. Please change the language to Finnish in Peppi and read the description in Finnish. After completing the course, the student will be able to - identify approximately 370 invertebrate taxa. - use identification keys. The study unit develops the following generic skills/generic competences: identification and development of expertise.

Content

Independent study of invertebrates taxa.

Materials

Elearn material and invertebrate study collections can be found in the Joensuu campus Natura building (N211). The literature below is recommended as additional material. In addition, other applicable literature on the identification of invertebrates.

Accomplishment methods

Study methods: independent study and written examination. Teaching (examinations) is carried out once a year. The course Advanced Animal Species Identification, invertebrates does not include separate lectures, but lectures Animal Species Identification, invertebrates also cover the requirements of Advanced Animal Species Identification, invertebrates. Evaluation criteria: written examination including 25 samples (maximum number of students/exam 25). Evaluation scale: 0-5.
