Objective

Learning objectives: After completing the course - The student will be able to understand the basic terminology of descriptive grammar underlying contrastive analysis. - The student knows how to analyse the phonetic, formal and sentence structure of a language. - master the basics of contrastive analysis of languages, recognise the influences of foreign languages and be able to take them into account in their work as translators.

Content

The course introduces the special features of the phonetic and formal structure of the Finnish language and the structure of sentences. The course compares Finnish with other languages and practises the analysis of structures.

Study methods: 1) Lectures 24 hours and online exercises (102 hours of independent work) and a 2-hour oral presentation or 2) Online course Assessment criteria: The grade will be determined on the basis of the oral presentation
