Objective

Learning outcomes: After completing the course the students: - are familiar with the basic terminology and methodological principles in corpus work - can compile a corpus according to the relevant principles - can use corpus tools for analysing corpora.

Content

The 2-credit-point course deals with the basics of corpus linguistics, key terminology, use of a corpus tool as well as the principles and practice of corpus compilation.

Execution methods

Exercises/lectures/final exam 12 h, 43 h of self-study. In the alternative mode, no contact hours.

Accomplishment methods

Modes of study: Lectures and exercises (80% attendance), participation in corpus compilation and/or final exam. Alternatively, independent corpus compilation and analysis with a corpus tool, report of the project to the teacher and/or final exam. Evaluation criteria: Participating in exercises, corpus compilation, and/or final exam.
