Objective

Learning outcomes: After completing the course, the student - has a basic knowledge of the role of literature and the arts in modern culture and society - has gained an understanding of the development of sociologically oriented research in literature and art, questions and research topics - knows the basic concepts of sociologically oriented research in literature and art - has acquired skills in multidimensional and analytical thinking and text production - has practiced independent work, time management and written argumentation skills

Content

The course systematically introduces themes on the role of literature and art in modern society. In addition, the history of sociologically oriented literature and art research is studied.

Those students who specialize in Literature or Sociology of art and who also have one of the above-mentioned specializations as a minor, complete one course (5 cr) in the subject of thematic studies in Cultural Order and Power. Accomplishment methods

Modes of study: Lectures and learning diary, book exam on general exam day or electronic Exam exam or essays. The course is recommended to be completed in lecture format. The essay will be agreed separately with the course coordinator. The coordinator will also be contacted with questions regarding the course's performance. Evaluation criteria: Participation in the lecture course and learning diary. Exam success or written essays.
