Objective
Student will be able to communicate and perform in Swedish in professional context both in Finland and other Nordic countries. He/she will master the professional language skills required at work and will be able to follow and understand the latest publications in the specific professional field in Swedish language. He/she reaches the minimum of level B1.1. as defined in the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Content
Working in Swedish language in professional context both in Finland and other Nordic countries. Communicative situations in working life related to the specific professional field. Authentic study resources in Swedish language related to the specific professional field. The contents of the study module will be determined by the study programs. The more detailed description of the contents will be found in the implementation plan. The contents of the study module will be tailored according to each degree programme or specialisation option.

Further information
When the student has passed this course, he/she will achieve the level of language skills which is required in bilingual official districts for the posts which require academic degree (according to the law 424/2003, language skills required from the personnel of public corporations) and which is needed for exercise of a profession and professional development (statute 1129/2014 §7 for the university of applied sciences). In the School of Business and Information Management, in the Degree Programmes of Business Economics, Library and Information Services and International Business, the student also has to pass another course in Swedish to achieve the level of language skills which is required for the academic degree. Different grades will be given from oral and written language skills in both courses. Language skills required from the personnel of public corporations will be evaluated based on statute 481/2003 §16 and 17 as good or satisfactory. Course’s grades 1,2 and 3 from the part performance correspond to satisfactory and grade 4 and 5 good.
