Objective
The objective of the bachelor's thesis included in the degree at the university of applied sciences is to develop and demonstrate students' abilities to apply their knowledge and skills in practical expert tasks related to professional studies. (Polytechnics Decree 352/2003 § 7)The bachelor's thesis has its origins in practical working life and its development. Students are required research orientation in their work, which promotes the building of theoretically managed and reflective professional skills.
Content
Students should consider the subject for their bachelor's thesis at the end of their second study year at the latest. During the third study year after the practical training students are introduced to doing the bachelor's thesis in the research seminars of their degree programmes. The head of the degree programme accepts the topic and nominates the instructing lecturer. Students get instruction mainly during the reception hours of the lecturers and in the seminars. The instructing teacher supports the process of doing the thesis and participates the seminars. Student writes a maturity exam based on his or her final thesis report.
Qualifications
Students should have at least 120 credits accomplished before starting the bachelor's thesis. Furthermore, it is required that the research seminar has been started and the methodological studies have been completed.
