Qualitative analysis course (3 - 4cr)

Objective

After completion of this course the doctoral candidate is able to analyze qualitative research material, and to recognize the ethical questions concerning the research material and qualitative analysis.

Content

On the qualitative analysis course, emphasis is laid on text analysis of participants’ own data: what kind of interpretations are possible.

Qualifications

The course is arranged for doctoral candidates at the University of Lapland.

Execution methods

The online course contains individual, practical working with research material.

Accomplishment methods

To successfully complete the course, the doctoral candidate needs to 1) fulfill the given tasks in the Optima learning platform, 2) to participate in online group sessions and 3) to write an essay following instructions given.
This way, the doctoral candidate obtains 3 ECTS. The doctoral candidate can obtain up to 4 ECTS if the exercise is extensive in scope and the candidate studies some additional literature.
