Objective
After completion of the course, the student is able to:
produce qualitative or/and quantitative empirical data related to the topic of the master thesis
categorize the produced data
analyze the produced data with chosen research methods or chosen methodological approach
evaluate the research results, including the reliability, validity and usability of the results
evaluate own expertise and researcher identity.
Content
Diverse research paradigms, as well as quantitative and qualitative research approaches, are addressed within the context of tourism studies. Such data production methods as surveys, interviews and observation are introduced. Academic research on tourism phenomenon is approached from the perspective of producing empirical data, categorizing data and analyzing data. In addition, the evaluation and usability of research results is discussed. Furthermore, academic writing skills are practised.

YMAT0200 Matkailututkimuksen aineopinnot, erityisesti YMAT1201 Matkailun tutkimuksen jatkokurssi, tai vastaavat tiedot ja taidot.
