Osaamistavoitteet

Opintojakson suoritettua opiskelija
- tuntee oman tutkimusalansa kansainvälistä ja suomenkielistä kirjallisuutta
- pystyy kriittisesti arvioimaan aiemman tutkimuksen soveltuvuutta omaan tutkielmaan
- tunnistaa muotoilun tutkimuksen erilaisia tutkimusotteita
- hallitsee lähdekirjallisuuden käytön

Sisältö

Tutustutaan muotoilun tutkimuksen kannalta keskeiseen kirjallisuuteen. Kirjallisuus valitaan tukemaan syventävien opintojen tutkielmaa. Vähintään yhden suoritettavista teoksista on oltava ns. kansainvälistä kirjallisuutta. Käsitellään lähdekirjallisuuden hyödyntämistä omassa kirjallisessa tuotoksessa sekä opponointikäytäntöjä.

MTEO0620 Advanced Literature in Industrial Design 6cr.
Content
Learning about the salient literature related to research onindustrial design. The chosen literature supports the thesis and isagreed on with the instructor. At least one of the studied worksmust be international literature. You may request the literaturelist from the examiner.
Objective
Having completed the course students can
- make use of international and domestic literaturerelated to their field of research
- critically assess the applicability of earlierresearch to their own thesis
- recognize various approaches to the research ofindustrial design

Implementation and working modes
A lecture and seminar work 20 hours. An essay of 15 pages, 6 cr.Presentation of the work.

MTEO0621 Design Research Methods 3 cr.
Content
Learning about the methodology and process of research ondesign, particularly industrial design. Learning about the mostsalient research methods and their special characteristics in thefield of industrial design.
Objective
Having completed the course students can
- recognize various views and approaches to theresearch of design
- recognize the most salient research methods andtheir special characteristics
- construct a research setting linking theproductive and theoretical parts

Toteutustavat

Luento ja seminaarityöskentelyä 42 tuntia, itsenäistä työskentelyä 120 h. Essee, jonka pituus 13-15 liuskaa. Työn esittely ja opponointi.
