Objective
After completing this course, the doctoral researcher is able to:
- investigate funding opportunities in Finland for doctoral research
- put together a funding application, CV, research plan and budget
- put together a communication plan for their research
- understand the basics of scientific publication
- assess publication channels and promote their visibility as a researcher
Content
The topics are the areas of the funding application, science communication, scientific publishing and the researcher's visibility.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Pass
The doctoral researcher participates in the lectures and discussions as outlined in the course description and submits the required written assignments related to their doctoral research, as specified in the course description and completed according to the given instructions. In the submitted assignments, the doctoral researcher demonstrates an understanding of the different components of a funding application as well as the fundamentals of science communication and academic publishing.
Fail
The doctoral researcher does not participate in the lectures and discussions as outlined in the course description and does not submit the required written assignments related to their doctoral research, or the submitted assignments do not comply with the given instructions. In the submitted assignments, the doctoral researcher does not demonstrate an understanding of the different components of a funding application, science communication, and/or the fundamentals of academic publishing.
