Osaamistavoitteet

After the course the student:
- Knows how to use various multimedia tools, devices and software - Understands and experiments with programming as a creative and expressive practice - Knows how to use a visual programming environment and other tools, services and technologies and how they can be connected - Can combine physical world to digital, by creating interactive things, which are both physical and tangible yet virtual and digital - Knows how to create interactive, real-time manipulated Phygital (physical/digital) environments -Is proficient in effectively documenting their own project and communicating it clearly, simultaneously enhancing their skills in documentation and presentation.

Sisältö

The course is divided into two sections. In the first section, fundamental principles of multimedia programming and visual programming are covered, along with various software and interfaces related to applied multimedia expression. The course also explores spatial and sensor-based interaction, converting numerical data into images and sound, and real-time manipulation of moving images and sound in live situations (VJ activities, dance or theater performances, electronic music presentations, etc.). The course involves experimenting, demonstrating, and prototyping with different tools, environments, and technologies. In the second section, students develop their own multimedia project, deepening their understanding in the chosen area of multimedia expression and creating a media art piece. The project includes experimentation, demonstration, and prototyping with tools, environments, and technologies. Students document and present their projects.

Arviointikriteeri, hyväksytty/hylätty

Fail: Performance is highly deficient or erroneous. The work may be based on serious misunderstandings.
Pass: Performance corresponds to the assignment, manifesting comprehension and a skill to analyse and justify.

1. Section: Lectures and exercises 56 hours, along with independent work for 79 hours.
2. Section: Independent work for 100 hours, presentation of the project at different stages for 16 hours.
