Objective

Developing Ski/Snow and Ice Resort Business
Managing Ski Resorts (project)
The student gets a holistic view of the management of ski/snow and ice resorts as well as business operations related to them including the special features of the operations. The focus is especially on financial management, marketing and human relations taking also into account principles of the responsible resource planning. He/she adopts a hospitable and customer-oriented way of thinking. He/she gets a view of the ski resort and sports event industry management from the perspective of Arctic destinations.

The student gets a holistic view of the management of ski/snow and ice resorts as well as business operations related to them including the special features of the operations. The focus is especially on financial management, marketing and human relations taking also into account principles of the responsible resource planning. He/she adopts a hospitable and customer-oriented way of thinking. He/she gets a view of the ski resort and sports event industry management from the perspective of Arctic destinations.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Satisfactory (2)
The student has satisfactory understanding and knowledge of future orientation and customer understanding in ski resorts. He/she needs assistance to be able to explain the details and the role of experience design in ski resorts. The student is able to do some service design when assisted. He/she does not know in detail how to apply development tools to improve the ski resort business and needs assistance. The student participates in the contact lessons rather passively and shows vague reflective and critical approach in all his/her activities. The student has difficulties in performing the assignments according to the instructions.
Poor (1)
The student has vague understanding and knowledge of future orientation and customer understanding in ski resorts. He/she needs a lot of assistance to explain the details and the role of experience design in ski resorts. The student has manifold difficulties to do service design even when assisted. He/she does not know how to apply development tools to improve the ski resort business and needs a lot of assistance. The student participates in the contact lessons very passively and has no reflective and critical approach in all his/her activities. The student has many challenges in performing the assignments according to the instructions.
Fail (0)
The student does not complete the assignments according to instructions or does not attend the learning situations at all. He/she does not pass the assignments, tests and/or the exam as required.

The student has very good understanding and knowledge of future orientation and customer understanding in ski resorts. He/she knows very well most of the details and the role of experience design in ski resorts. The student is able to do individual service design. He/she knows very well how to apply development tools to improve the ski resort business. The student participates in the contact lessons actively and shows analytical, reflective and critical approach in all his/her activities. All the assignments are performed very well according to the instructions.
Good (3)
The student has good understanding and knowledge of future orientation and customer understanding in ski resorts. He/she knows well and in some detail the role of experience design in ski resorts. The student is able to do some service design in guidance. He/she knows well how to apply development tools to improve the ski resort business. The student participates in the contact lessons quite actively and shows some analytical, reflective and critical approach in all his/her activities. Most of the assignments are performed according to the instructions.

Excellent (5)
The student has profound and excellent understanding and knowledge of future orientation and customer understanding in ski resorts. He/she knows in full detail the role of experience design in ski resorts. The student is able to do service design with all details. He/she knows in an excellent manner how to apply development tools to improve the ski resort business. The student participates in the contact lessons very actively and shows deep analytical, reflective and critical approach in all his/her activities. All the assignments are performed excellently according to the instructions.
