The student is able to utilise possibilities offered by Lapland UAS and MTI when planning and implementing his/her studies. He knows various features of the different learning approaches in use. He/she is an active learner in different learning environments. He/she gets the basic skills of working in a project. The student knows how to use services of Lapland UAS and to follow its principles and guidelines. He/she knows the importance of information search as part of his/her learning process and its development. The student knows how to search for information e.g. by using the right databases and has a critical approach to the use of source materials.
The student has an overall picture of the tourism and hospitality field and knowledge of customer-oriented, interactive and hospitable way of working. He/she gets a view of the tourism industry from the perspective of Arctic destinations and is able to see safety issues as a significant factor in the sustainable and responsible tourism business. The student gets a holistic understanding of the business environment specifics in the northern areas as well as in businesses and industries operating in the Arctic region.

Pass
The student has gained knowledge of his/her own study field and is able to foresee its meaning in the context of his/her career development. The student is able to work in proper learning environments and use electronic tools independently and efficiently. He/she also knows how to write documents according to the right templates. He/she knows the basic concepts and models related to the tourism industry and is also able to view its impacts. The student knows the operating environment of the tourism industry and is able to see it from a broader business perspective. He/she is able to take responsibility for his/her own and the group's learning. He/she can follow ethical principles when searching for and using information. He/she achieves analytical, reflective and critical thinking and learning skills. The student also gets proper social, intercultural and communication skills to be able to work fluently in a multicultural team. All the assignments are performed according to the instructions.
Fail
The student does not have enough knowledge of his/her study field and cannot therefore plan his/her future career. He/she has no social, intercultural or communication skills to be able to work in a multicultural team. He/she cannot complete the assignments according to instructions or does not attend the learning situations. The student does not pass the assignments and/or the exam as required.
Please note that there might be more specific assessment criteria for learning assignments which will be given at the beginning of the study unit.Pass
