The student:


- is able to recognize business environment specifics in the northern areas

- has knowledge of the Barents Euro-Arctic region: geopolitical, sociocultural, economic, ecologic etc aspects

- understands the concept of sustainable development, knows ethical factors of the work environment in the North, is familiar with the business and industries operating in the North

- is able to cooperate in a multicultural environment and is able to take into account the specifics of the northern culture

- can use professional, field-related terminology in English

- is able to use both written and spoken English in various situations required by the working life taking also multicultural issues into account

- is able to write documents required in business communication situations and is also capable of using a proper style in them in English

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Satisfactory skills
The student has vague understanding of the meaning of geopolitical, sociocultural, economic and ecological aspects in the Barents Euro-Arctic region and has limited skills in applying them in practice. He/she understands only partly the effects of sustainable development and ethical factors and can seldom foresee possible business opportunities in the North. The student shows limited critical, analytical and reflective thinking and has satisfactory practical skills in the Study Tour in the North project. He/she has satisfactory knowledge of the basics of project management and shows basic-level leading skills for planning, implementing and evaluating a small-scale international project in a group. In addition, he/she has vague motivation and little interest in team work. The student is able to use basic field-related terminology in English. He/she is able to write and speak English at a moderate level but makes mistakes which may cause misunderstandings. All the assignments are mostly performed according to the instructions.

Good skills
The student has good understanding of the meaning of geopolitical, sociocultural, economic and ecological aspects in the Barents Euro-Arctic region and is mostly able to apply them in practice. He/she understands well the effects of sustainable development and ethical factors and can mostly foresee possible business opportunities in the North. The student shows critical, analytical and reflective thinking and has good practical skills in the Study Tour in the North project. He/she has good knowledge of the basics of project management and shows good leading skills for planning, implementing and evaluating a small-scale international project in a group. In addition, he/she has good motivation and interest in team work. The student has a good command of field-related terminology in English. He/she is able to write and speak English fluently in various working life situations. All the assignments are mostly performed according to the instructions.

The student has profound understanding of the meaning of geopolitical, sociocultural, economic and ecological aspects in the Barents Euro-Arctic region and is able to apply them in practice. He/she understands very well the effects of sustainable development and ethical factors and can foresee possible business opportunities in the North. The student shows profound critical, analytical and reflective thinking and has excellent practical skills in the Study Tour in the North project. He/she has excellent knowledge of the basics of project management and shows excellent leading skills for planning, implementing and evaluating a small-scale international project in a group. In addition, he/she has strong motivation and an inspiring attitude towards team work. The student has an excellent command of field-related terminology in English. He/she is able to write and speak English in an excellent, native-like manner in various working life situations. All the assignments are performed according to the instructions.
