Osaamistavoitteet

The aim is to enable the registration of credits for participation in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.

After participation in the training program for the international Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot and the Moot itself, students are:
- able to function as members of an arbitration team working with a dispute concerning international sales
- to use international arbitration as a dispute resolution mechanism
- to analyze a legal dispute and to recognize legally relevant questions and legal facts
- to identify legal norms relevant to a dispute concerning international sales
- to apply legal norms and to present legally grounded argumentation in written memorandums for claimant and respondent
- master legal English in international sales and arbitration - to convince arbitrators through oral argumentation during arbitration proceedings.

Basic students may seek credits for OTHER COMPETITIONS pursuant to the procedure described under code OTMVAL0032.

Participation in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot as a senior member of the team of the University of Lapland.

The unit is graded pass/fail. Passing requires participation regardless of the outcome of the competition.

Toteutustavat

Please follow these instructions if you wish to participate in the current year's Moot team and have your participation registered in Peppi:
1. Note that participation and coaching are organized by Law Students Association Artikla (see artikla.fi and social media).
2. Please enrol via the implementation AND as otherwise instructed by Artikla.
3. The team is coached by alumni volunteers. The coaches are in charge of selecting the team.
4. Once you and your team have completed the Moot in its entirety, please delegate one person to request the responsible person to register your credits.
5. When requesting to register credits, please provide evidence of everyone's participation in each part of the competition. Please note which attachment corresponds with which part and whether some participants have only joined for some parts of the competition.

Suoritustavat

The unit can only be completed by participating in the Vis Moot.
The unit can be RPL'd (recognition of prior learning, AHOT in Finnish) by having previously participated in Vis Moot in a different university. The responsible person decides on the amount of credits that is recognized.

The amount of credits depends on the extent of the team's and student's participation as follows:
- Written part 1: 5 ECTS
- Written part 2: 5 ECTS
- Verbal part: 5 ECTS
