Multicultural work (5cr)

Objective

Students
- are able to expend their abilities in terms of knowledge, expertise, attitude and activities towards multicultural work in the field of social services

- are able to separate preconceptions, values and attitudes relating to their own culture and those of a foreign culture and are able to interpret dimensions explaining the main similarities and differences between the cultures

- are able to describe Finland's immigration policy and its connections to international policy

- are able to explain the acculturation process and the factors which affect it

- are able to describe the service system supporting integration and analyse factors that support and inhibit the integration process

- apply their abilities in work preventing the exclusion of immigrants

- find solutions to support the integration and ability to function of immigrants

- assess the importance of the promotion of tolerance and anti-racism in the social services
